Early this February we embarked on our first ever trip to Edinburgh, Scotland.
This page is a place to remember the trip, its successes and funny moments.
I will try to get a report from a member of each of the sections written up below as soon as possible.
See the gallery for photographs.
Looking forward to the next trip away with all the guys... Dates and location yet to be decided.
Getting There.. It’s a long way to Tipperary, but Edinburgh with 22 scouts seems much further! ![]()
We left the Hut in high spirits just after 10am on Monday 11th February in 2 mini busses, a Sprinter van full of gear, and the Green Eccles mobile.
Due to the Highways agency’s genius decision to change the name of a service station without telling any one, (Fulwood services is now Signposted Lancaster Services, just in case you ever plan to rendezvous there) we eventually met up at services where Shere-Kahns Mini Bus and us in the Sprinter, were greeted by an RAF fly past from a massive Hercules aircraft.
Quick toilet break and we were back on the road. James Knott had already fallen asleep in the front of Akela’s Mini bus. Onwards up the M6 and off at Carlisle. Here the plan was to stop off at Pizza hut for Lunch but thanks to TOMTOM satnav an impromptu tour of the town was enjoyed by all (Shere-Kahn and Akela expertly performed 3 point turns in the mini busses on a tight terraced street). Then into Pizza hut where the unsuspecting public had the madness that is Norbury Cubs and Scouts unleashed upon them. Pizza Buffet, colouring sheets complete and helium filled balloons released skywards we got back on the road.
Coffee break at services and then along a winding A702 to Penicuik, Edinburgh. We had arrived!
